Is The Background Changing Colors?

About Color 'Evolution'

The purpose of this page is to serve as a simple visual aid to explain how small, nearly impercievable changes can accumulate into large changes over long periods of time.

What's the point?

Watch closely and the color never seems to change. Check back a few hours later and the color will be completely different...

How did it change? When did red change to orange? When did green change to blue?

How it works

The background color starts every day (12:00 midnight) at exactly red and changes through every color (by one degree hue) until it returns to red at the end of the day.

There are 360 different hues, which means the color will change every 4 minutes (at 'normal speed') in order to go through all colors in the course of a 24 hour day.

For fun, a countdown from the start of life on earth 4 billion years ago to the present day also runs on a 24 hour cycle to help give an idea of how many years life on earth has been evolving.

How are the colors evolving?

They aren't really. They are just changing very slightly every so often.
